Privacy and Cookie Policy

This page explains how Recipaster uses personal data, cookies, analytics, and advertising on the public site, and how the Recipaster app uses device permissions such as camera and photo library.

1. Who we are

Recipaster is a service operated by Devisive AB ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the processing of personal data in connection with the public website recipaster.com and the Recipaster app.

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle personal data, you can contact us at [email protected].

2. What data we collect on the public site

On the public website we mainly collect technical and usage data, such as IP address, browser information, device type, referring URL, and how you navigate and interact with the site.

If you sign up for an account, additional data is processed in the app according to our Terms of Service and in-app notices.

3. Camera and photos in the Recipaster app

In the Recipaster app you can use your camera and photo library to work with your recipes.

You can scan recipes from cookbooks or other sources, and you can also take or upload photos of your own recipes and dishes.

Camera and photo permissions are only used when you actively choose to take a photo or pick an image inside the app. We do not access the camera or photo library in the background.

Images are used solely to create, update, or illustrate recipes in your account and to perform text recognition (for example OCR) when you scan a recipe. We do not use the image content for advertising profiling.

If images are sent to our servers or trusted processing providers, this is only to provide the scanning and recipe management features. We keep such data only as long as necessary for these purposes and then delete or anonymise it.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your choices, and, if you consent, analyse usage and support advertising.

Necessary cookies are required for basic functionality such as security and loading the site. These cannot be turned off in our cookie settings.

Optional cookies are used for analytics and marketing. These are only set if you give your consent via our cookie banner.

5. Google Analytics (statistics)

If you consent to statistics cookies, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site and to improve content and performance.

Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, events (for example clicks), approximate location (based on IP address), and technical information about your device and browser.

IP addresses are processed by Google but are truncated or anonymised according to Google's standard for GA4. We do not use Google Analytics to build individual profiles about you.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer or by adjusting your browser settings.

6. Advertising and Google services

We may show advertising on the site and use Google services to measure the effectiveness of our marketing.

If you consent to marketing cookies, Google may combine information from this site with information from other sites and apps where you are signed in to your Google account, in order to show more relevant ads and measure performance.

You can control how Google uses your information for ads in your Google account under "Ads settings", and you can withdraw your consent on our site via the cookie settings.

7. Legal bases and retention

We process necessary cookies based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functioning website.

Analytics and marketing cookies are processed only based on your consent.

We keep analytics data for as long as necessary for the stated purposes and in line with the retention settings configured in Google Analytics.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as access to your personal data, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to certain processing.

You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

To exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or change how we use analytics or advertising.

If we make material changes, we will notify you on the site or via other appropriate channels.
